Day 1: Depart JFK to Ghana—Saturday, December 26, 2026

Day 2: Arrive in Ghana Sunday, December 27, 2026

Upon arrival in Accra, you will be welcomed, ushered through immigration and customs and transported in a private A/C vehicle to your hotel in Accra. Textiles shopping before checking in at your hotel, relax and prepare for a memorable night of delicious meal and soothing music. There will be a seamstress at the hotel to pick up the fabrics and take your measurements for your custom-made African clothing.

Day 3: ACCRA (AFROFUTURE FEST)—Monday, December 28, 2026

Begin your tour with a visit to the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre, the former residence of the renowned Pan-Africanist. Now a museum and research hub, the center preserves his legacy of African unity, intellectual pursuit, and cultural pride. Continue to Independence Square, a symbolic landmark where Ghana’s most important national celebrations take place. Capture memorable photos at the iconic Black Star Gate, a proud emblem of the nation’s independence and unity. Next, visit the Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a beautifully renovated 5.4-acre monument dedicated to Ghana’s first president. This evening, attend AfroFuture Fest, a unique opportunity to celebrate African diversity, inclusiveness, the thrilling and thriving millennial talent, culture and art from and in Africa. Return to the hotel with beautiful memories of a truly authentic African experience.

Day 4: ACCRA | ASSIN MANSO | ELMINA—Tuesday, December 29, 2026

Following a fun-packed night, enjoy a sumptuous breakfast at your hotel you'll depart for Elmina, one of Ghana’s most historic coastal towns. En route, stop at Assin Manso Slave River, a significant memorial site in Ghana’s history of the transatlantic slave trade. At the site, you will visit the “Slave River,” where captured Africans were bathed and rested before being taken to the coastal slave castles to await shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean. Continue your scenic drive to Elmina. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel for check-in. Spend the remainder of the evening at leisure, relaxing and soaking in the coastal atmosphere.

Day 5: ASSIN MANSO | ELMINA | ACCRA—Wednesday, December 30, 2026

After breakfast, we will visit Elmina Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest European structures in sub-Saharan Africa. This historic monument stands as a powerful reminder of the transatlantic slave trade and its lasting impact. At the castle, you will participate in the “Fihankra” Ceremony a symbolic homecoming ritual designed to reconnect people of African descent, whose ancestors were displaced during the slave trade, with their ancestral homeland. The ceremony honors the restoration of cultural and spiritual ties that were severed for centuries. The final part of the Fihankra includes a traditional naming ceremony held at the Elmina Chief’s Palace. Participants are kindly requested to dress in white as a symbol of purity, peace, and renewal. ALL ARE REQUESTED TO BE IN WHITE. After the ceremony, enjoy lunch (at your own expense) before returning to the hotel dinner and spending the remainder of the evening relaxing.

After breakfast, enjoy a flexible morning before departing Elmina. Upon arrival in Accra, check into your hotel and take some time to relax and refresh in preparation for the evening’s festivities. Tonight, ring in the New Year in style at AfroFuture’s New Year’s Eve Party an unforgettable celebration of music, culture, and connection. Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to groove to Afrobeats and vibrant rhythms, mingle with new friends, and welcome the New Year with joy, energy, and African flair.

Day 6: ACCRA FREE DAY—Friday, January 1, 2027

After an exciting night of celebration, today is a free day to unwind and rejuvenate. Enjoy a leisurely breakfast and take the morning to relax and make the most of your hotel’s amenities lounge by the pool, indulge in a spa treatment, or simply enjoy some quiet time. The seamstress will deliver your custom-made African clothing. If you’re feeling adventurous, you may also choose to explore Accra at your own pace, sampling local restaurants and savoring authentic Ghanaian dishes. We will enjoy dinner at the hotel dressed in our custom-made African clothing. After a delightful dinner we'll be heading to Afrikiko, a lively entertainment spot where you can dance, skate, and soak in the city’s vibrant nightlife (food, drinks, and skating fees, are at your own cost).

Day 7: ACCRA SAFARI DAY—Saturday, January 2, 2027

After breakfast, depart for Ada and spend the day at the beautiful Aqua Safari Resort, where relaxation meets adventure. Enjoy the perfect blend of serene beachfront views and the charm of the surrounding village life as you soak up the sun and unwind in this tranquil setting. Set out on a scenic boat cruise on the lake, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes and gentle mountain scenery. For those seeking a bit more excitement, take part in optional water activities such as jet skiing or kayaking (at your own expense). Later in the afternoon, return to Accra and relax for the rest of the evening, reflecting on a day filled with nature, adventure, and serenity.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• The deposit is non-refundable and non-transferrable.

• Cancellations must be submitted in writing to TravelingwithTanya@gmail.com

  • Cancellations submitted on or before March 30, 2026 will be refunded the amount paid less the deposit and a $300 administration fee.

  • Cancellations submitted after March 30, 2026 will forfeit all payments made and no refund will be provided.

PAYMENTS

• The full amount of the trip cost is to be paid by the final payment date.

• Several payment options are available - you can pay in full or pay in installments.

• A late payment fee of $350 per person will be charged if payment in full is not received by the final due date listed on your invoice.  Late payment fees are automatically added to your reservation the day after your final payment due date.

• Trips not paid by the final payment date are subject to cancellation and no refund will be provided.

• All late payment requests must be approved by Gallivanting Worldwide Travel, LLC before the final payment date on your invoice.
